ALBANIAN MINISTER OF DEFENCE VISITS KFOR HQ

PRISTINA, 26 th November. This morning KFOR Commander, Major General Giovanni Fungo, received Mrs. Mimi Kodeli, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Albania, at Camp "Film City” NATO KFOR HQ in Pristina.

The latest developments in the security and overall situation in Kosovo as well as in the wider Balkans region were widely discussed.

In particular, COMKFOR confirmed his support to the Institutions in Kosovo in improving the capabilities of the Kosovo Security Forces (KSF) within the current constitutional mandate and in accordance with the existing legislative framework. The further development of these specific KSF capabilities will be functional to the acceptance and promotion of the KSF within all peoples in Kosovo.

The meeting was also an excellent opportunity for COMKFOR to emphasize the high professionalism and commitment of the Albanian soldiers in accomplishing KFOR’s mandate. He also praised Mrs Kodeli and the Republic of Albania for increasing the contribution of Albanian troops in KFOR, whose presence, since 2010, has continuously been skilled and trustful.

This was the first visit Mrs Kodeli paied to KFOR HQ since 2015 and the second official meeting with General Fungo, during his tour of duty as COMKFOR XXI.
