MULTI-NATIONAL BATTLE GROUP WEST TROOPS PARTICIPATE IN A KFOR JOINT EXERCISE

Pec - MNBG-W maneuver units composed of Italian and Moldavian troops participated in a "Freedom of Movement Detachment” training exercise at Camp "Marèchal de Lattre de Tassigny” at Novo Selo, in Northern Kosovo on 17 Feb 16. Training and exercises are normal military activities for KFOR troops. This exercise was planned in order practice the tactics, technique and procedures required to deal with freedom of movement incidents.

The exercise involved an Explosive Ordnance Deposal (EOD) team and also a Logistic Support Unit equipped with cranes, both from Ukraine. Based upon a realistic scenario, the exercise was set up in order to reproduce an environment which dealt with a broad range of tactical problems and challenges.

The exercise ended successfully and the learning outcomes fixed during the preparation phase were fully achieved.

MMBG-W headquarters is the Italian led KFOR Command which is based in Camp Villaggio Italia, in the western part of Kosovo. MNBG-W contributing nations are: Austria, Italy, Moldavia and Slovenia. Their role is to ensure freedom of movement and security in their area of operations which includes providing security at Visoki Decane Monastery.
