ITALIAN DEPUTY JOINT OPERATIONS HQ COMMANDER VISITS KFOR


PRISTINA, Kosovo. KFOR Commander Major General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta welcomed the Italian Deputy Joint Operations Headquarters Commander, Lieutenant General Roberto Nordio at KFOR Headquarters in Pristina.

The Italian Generals discussed the overall situation in Kosovo focusing mainly on current security issues.

General Nordio expressed his appreciation for KFOR’s contribution to security and stability in the region and for the professionalism of KFOR service members.

General Miglietta emphasised the role of KFOR, as the third responder, supporting Kosovo Police and EULEX, in maintaining a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement in the area of operations.

General Nordio had the opportunity to visit the Italian-lead units: the Joint Regional Detachment Centre (JRD-C) and the Multinational Specialized Unit (MSU) based in Pristina and the Multinational Battle Group West (MNBG-W) in Pec. Italy has around 570 soldiers deployed to Kosovo in a variety of roles.

Before completing his visit to KFOR the Deputy Joint Operations Headquarters Commander was welcomed by the Abbot of the Decani Monastery, Father Sava.
