THE NEW ROTARY WING DEPLOYMENT OPERATIONAL BASE (RWDOB) IS BEING BUILT IN SLLATINA AIRPORT

Every day eight dumpers, two excavators, one front loader, and two huge engineer tanks are deployed in the military part of the airport under operational command of Joint Logistic Support Group (JLSG).

KFOR assets came from Austria, Italy, Switzerland and Ukraine and they operate with one common goal: to move all in all more than 70.000 cubic metres of soil and 20.000 cubic meters of gravel.

This is necessary in order to start the construction of medevac helipads which will improve, in the future, KFOR’s ability to execute helicopter and medevac operations in a fast and effective way.

Since early August KFOR engineers moved already 16.000 cubic meters of soil despite the last extremely high temperatures. So far all the tasks were executed on time and without accidents. If the weather stays on the side of the engineers they will be able to finish the biggest part of the job in early October this year.
