MULTINATIONAL BATTLE GROUP EAST TRANSFER OF AUTHORITY


Pristina, Kosovo - Today, KFOR Commander, Major General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, presided over the change of command ceremony in Camp Bondsteel, in Urosevac/Ferizaj, to mark the handover of command within the Multinational Battle Group East (MNBG-E).

The ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Chief of Mission at U.S. Embassy Pristina, Ms. Jennifer Bachus and political local Authorities. The ceremony marked the handed over between the US Army Colonel Clint J. Backer and Colonel Vernon H. Simpson Jr. The ceremony marked also the relinquishment of authority by the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, whose home station is Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, to the 30th Armored Brigade Combat Team, a National Guard unit from Clinton, North Carolina.

During his speech, General Figliuolo expressed his congratulations for the results achieved by the men and women commanded by Colonel Backer, who have performed their tasks in an outstanding way, demonstrating professionalism and competence. He also thanked all MNBG-E service-members for their strong cooperation and commitment to KFOR. He remarked how they, with principles of "EXAMPLE ENDEAVOUR ENTRUST”, were capable of accomplishing the mission in support of the development of Kosovo”.

Multinational Battle Group East is a KFOR manoeuvre Unit led by the United States composed of service members coming from the Unites States, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Turkey, Romania, Slovenia and Armenia.
