KSF DIVING UNIT TO OPERATE IN MITROVICA MUNICIPALITY

KFOR Commander authorizes following a request by the Kosovo Police - North

11th April 2015 - KFOR Commander, Major General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo has authorized a Kosovo Security Force (KSF) Diving Unit to operate in the vicinity of the Ibar River in Mitrovica Municipality, to conduct a search and rescue activity for alleged missing person.

The authorization is the result of an official request from the Kosovo Police (KP) Chief of Regional Operation-North, through the Ministry of Interior, based on the order of the Duty Prosecutor.

KP Regional Directorate North will be in charge of the coordination of the activity, with the KSF Diving Unit and KFOR Joint Regional Detachment-North. The KSF will establish a temporary diving center on the Southern bank of the Ibar River, because KFOR does not currently have any diving assets in Kosovo.

Today’s humanitarian activity is similar to the one conducted last July, when COMKFOR authorized the KSF Unit to operate in Gazivode Lake (Zubin Potok Municipality).
