KFOR RECEIVES THE COMMANDER OF THE JOINT FORCE COMMAND (JFC) NAPLES


Kosovo Force Commander, Major General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, welcomed the U.S. Navy Admiral Mark E. Ferguson III, Commander JFC Naples, to the NATO KFOR Headquarters in Pristina/Prishtinë.

During his visit in Kosovo, Admiral Ferguson, accompanied by General Figliuolo, met with the Kosovo Minister of Interior, Mr. Skender Hyseni who expressed to Admiral Ferguson his appreciation for the commitment performed by KFOR service members, remarking that KFOR presence in Kosovo is highly appreciated.

The visit continued with the meeting with the Deputy Head of EULEX Mission, Mrs Joëlle Vachter. During the meeting they discussed many topics related to the Kosovo security situation and the judicial system, addressing in particular the process that will bring about the creation of the Specialistic Court. Mrs Joëlle Vachter confirmed to Admiral Ferguson the excellent cooperation existing between EULEX and KFOR who collaborate daily to maintain safety and stability in Kosovo.

At Camp Film City, KFOR Headquarters, Adm. Ferguson was briefed about the latest developments of the security situation and the current socio-economic situation in Kosovo. It was also highlighted the effective role of KFOR in maintaining a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement, which allows for the development of better social and economic conditions. Admiral Ferguson confirmed the KFOR commitment also in the next future.

The visit was concluded with a meeting with the Ambassadors of the Quint Countries, France, Germany, Italy, United Kingdom and United States and the UNMIK Special Representative for the Secretary General. During the meeting, the role of KFOR in the delicate context of the Balkans and the need to continue to accomplish the mission was emphasized. Promoting the dialogue in the region and the implementation of the Brussels Agreements was also addressed.
