KFOR COMMANDER RECEIVED THE PRESIDENT OF AUSTRIA

Pristina, Kosovo. KFOR Commander, Major General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta received today the President of Austria, Mr Heinz Fischer, at Camp "Film City” NATO KFOR Headquarters.

General Miglietta and President Fischer discussed the latest developments in the current security and political situation in Kosovo. General Miglietta highlighted the importance of the role of KFOR in contributing, as the third responder, to support Kosovo Police, EULEX and all local and international organizations.

The meeting was also an opportunity for General Miglietta to emphasize the high professionalism of the Austrian soldiers in accomplishing KFOR’s mandate.

Currently, around 550 Austrian service members are deployed with KFOR. The majority are deployed in Pec/Peja as part of the Multinational Battle Group West, while the remainder are deployed at KFOR military bases in Prizren and in Pristina/Prishtinë, as part of the KFOR HQ Staff and the Joint Logistic Support Group. The Austrian contingent represents the largest non-NATO contribution to KFOR.

President Fischer confirmed that "Austria is fully committed to keeping the stability in Kosovo and it will continue to sustain KFOR for a democratic and peaceful Kosovo”.
