KFOR COMMANDER MET WITH CHIEF OF SWISS ARMED FORCES JOINT STAFF


Today, Major General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo welcomed the Chief of the Swiss Armed Forces Joint Staff, Major General Jean-Marc Halter, to an official meeting in Camp "Film City” NATO KFOR Headquarters in Pristina/Prishtinë.

During the meeting they spoke about the latest developments of security situation in Kosovo and the contribution given to KFOR by the Swiss Contingent. General Figliuolo and General Halter agreed on the importance of the role of KFOR in supporting, as the third responder, Kosovo Police and EULEX, in order to maintain a safe and secure environment and the freedom of movement, thus allowing the development of better social and economic conditions.

KFOR Commander took the opportunity to emphasize the importance of Swiss contribution, expressing his appreciation for the excellent professionalism shown by the Swiss service-members and the important assets deployed by Switzerland in KFOR such as helicopters and specialized equipment for engineering, explosive ordnance disposal and improvised explosive device disposal.

Currently, there are about 200 Swiss service members deployed in KFOR, with the command of the Joint Regional Detachment North. Furthermore Swiss Armed Forces service members are deployed in Camp Film City, in Camp Prizren and in Camp Marechal de Lattre de Tassigny (Novo Selo).
