KFOR COMMANDER MEETS MITROVICA-SOUTH MAYOR
Pristina, Kosovo. KFOR Commander, Major General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta, met today the Mayor of Mitrovica South, Mr Hagim Bahtiri, in the City Hall of the town.
They discussed on the security and economic prospects for improving living conditions in Mitrovica with specific focus on the South.
Mayor Bahtiri expressed gratitude to General Miglietta for the presence of KFOR, and the impartial and effective effort in favour of peace.
"We have worked hard, together with leaders of the new municipality in the north to improve the security situation, mobility and freedom of movement of people and goods and to improve interethnic relations. Thanks to this work, but also to communication, cooperation and support that we had from the Commander of peacekeepers – KFOR in northern Kosovo, today throughout Mitrovica we have a much relaxed situation, which is moving with firm steps towards full stabilization”, Mr Bahtiri said.
On the other hand, General Miglietta confirmed the fully commitment of KFOR soldiers in promoting a stable and tolerant environment in Mitrovica. The General also highlighted the importance to conduct a constructive dialogue and a fruitful cooperation between the Mitrovica South and North municipalities aimed to guarantee an economic and social development.
General Miglietta stated that "KFOR’s presence here is very important for the citizens of Mitrovica and the whole Kosovo too.”
