JOINT REGIONAL DETACHMENT SOUTH CHANGE OF COMMAND

Prizren, Kosovo. The ceremony for the change of Command of the JRD-S between the outgoing Commander, Colonel Omer Faruk DEMIRCIOGLU and the incoming one Colonel Saim BAGCI took place today in Camp Sultan Murat, JRDS HQ.

The ceremony was attended by COM KFOR, Major General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta.

"Today - General Miglietta said - is a very special day for both commanders. For Colonel Demircioglu, this day marks the end of a very successful tour, and for Colonel Bagci, today marks the beginning of a challenging assignment as we work together and stay committed to the KFOR mission”.

COMKFOR, referring to JRDS service members, said that "You have the reputation of providing exceptional daily monitoring activities and situational awareness in your Area of Responsibility. I want to express my appreciation for your service, professionalism, and the outstanding manner in which you conduct yourselves every day. A commander is only as successful if his troops are successful”.

JRD-S is a multinational unit with contingent coming from five different contributing nations: Austria, Poland, Switzerland, Turkey and USA. It is responsible to provide to COM KFOR situational awareness in the area of responsibility which includes 19 Municipalities, to contribute to the maintenance of a Safe and Secure Environment and Freedom of Movement, monitoring and early identifying security, socio-economic and political situations. JRD-S manages and deals with overt information, gathers and liaises with regional and local authorities, population and international organizations Kosovo wide in order to "feel the pulse of Kosovo”.
