HIGH LEVEL VISITS TO KFOR HQ

Pristina, Kosovo. This morning KFOR Commander, Major General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta, had a meeting with the Commander of Kosovo Security Force, Lieutenant General Rrahman Rama, at NATO KFOR Headquarters.

General Miglietta highlighted the professionalism of the KSF in fulfilling its mandate, especially in the field of Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Search and Rescue Operations assistance.

NATO currently supports the development of KSF in the framework of their original mission and mandate, through NATO Liaison and Advisory Team.

In the afternoon, General Miglietta met with EULEX Head of Mission, H.E. Mr Gabriele Meucci.

The main topics discussed during the meeting were the increased security conditions in Kosovo and the current overall situation in the Balkan region, with the focus on the migration phenomenon in the Western Balkans.

General Miglietta and Mr Meucci agreed on the importance of KFOR efforts in contributing, as third responder, to support Kosovo Police, EULEX in maintaining a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement throughout all Kosovo.

These meetings follow other similar ones that General Miglietta has held with other stakeholders in a comprehensive approach to the Kosovo security situation.
