COM KFOR MET THE AMBASSADOR OF TURKEY TO KOSOVO

Pristina, Kosovo. This morning Major General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta, KFOR Commander, met the new appointed Ambassador of Turkey to Kosovo, H.E. Mrs. Kivilcim Kiliç, at Camp "Film City” NATO KFOR Headquarters in Pristina/Prishtina.

The meeting was an opportunity for General Miglietta to underline the traditional presence of Turkey in the region and, nowadays in particular, the crucial role played by Turkey in the field of economic development of the entire territory and the professional and considerable contribution given to KFOR in ensuring a stable and secure environment in Kosovo.

"Turkey has a multidimensional relationship with Kosovo” Ambassador Kiliç said, "Turkey is fully committed to keep the stability in Kosovo and it will continue to sustain KFOR for a democratic, multi-ethnic and peaceful Kosovo”.

Currently, Turkey is one of the most important Contributing Nations to KFOR with more than 400 soldiers deployed in Kosovo, operating mostly in Joint Regional Detachment South as leader Nation, in KFOR Headquarters and in the Multinational Battle Group East.

COM KFOR and the Turkish Ambassador agreed on the importance of KFOR’s contribution, as third responder in maintaining a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement throughout Kosovo.

This meeting follows other similar ones held by the KFOR Commander for a comprehensive approach to the overall Kosovo situation.
