COM KFOR MEETING WITH THE CHIEF OF DEFENCE OF AUSTRIA

Pristina, Kosovo. KFOR Commander, Major General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta, met today the Chief of Defence of the Federal Republic of Austria, Lieutenant General Othmar Commenda, at Camp "Film City” NATO KFOR Headquarters in Pristina.

The overall security situation in Kosovo, the migration flow in the Balkans and the foreign fighter threat were the main topics discussed during the meeting.

General Miglietta expressed his appreciation for the professionalism of the Austrian contingent. Austria contributes approximately 500 service members to KFOR who are mainly deployed in Pec, as part of the Multinational Battle Group West and as members of KFOR HQ staff.

Austrian troops, along with other Multinational Battle Group West contingents from Italy, Moldova and Slovenia contribute to maintaining a safe and secure environment. They pay particular attention to the security at Decane monastery where there is a constant presence of KFOR troops.

General Commenda confirmed that Austria will continue to support KFOR’s mission in maintaining a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement throughout Kosovo.
