LIEUTENANT GENERAL JOERG VOLLMER VISITS KFOR


KFOR Commander, Major General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo received Lieutenant General Joerg Vollmer, Deputy Chief of Staff of the German Army and Commander of German Field Army , meeting him at NATO KFOR Headquarters in Pristina/Prishtinë.

The Generals discussed the latest developments regarding the current security situation in Kosovo and KFOR´s role in the region, with particular attention to the role of the German contingent in the mission. General Figliuolo expressed his appreciation for the German cooperation and support to the KFOR mission. He emphasized the excellent results and the commendable professionalism of the German service-members

General Figliuolo and General Vollmer agreed on the importance of the role of KFOR to maintain a safe and secure environment and the freedom of movement, ensuring the conditions for social and economic development in the area.

Currently, about 700 German troops are deployed across Kosovo. The German contribution began in June 1999 and it now provides the second-largest contingent in Kosovo, primarily deployed in Camp Prizren.
