Commander of Kosovo Force, Major General Salvatore FARINA attended today the ribbon cutting ceremony of a road in NOVO BRDO.

 

The project in favour of the local population has been developed thanks to the fruitful and excellent cooperation between KFOR, NLAT, KSF, local authorities, International Organization for Migration (IOM) and British Embassies.

 

"This is a milestone in the direction of integration and cooperation between the different souls of Kosovo. The scope of this fundamental project is in support of all the communities that live here and will contribute to improve the economic growth of this area. In addition, thanks to project and engineering capability of the KSF experts the security of all citizens is a now enormously increase in the view of the future use of the road during winter time. As well as the bridge built last year by KSF in favour of the monastery of DECANE”, General Farina pointed out in his speech, "this is also an important project that represents another fundamental achievement and symbolizes a road that connects the people of Kosovo. Day by day, "More Together” for the success of Kosovo”, General Farina concluded.

 

The town of NOVO BRDO was linked to the road network by a gravelled access road in very bad condition mainly due to missing maintenance and proper drainage system: the overall length of this road is about 2 km.

 

It is used as access road to the farm managed by GRACANICA Monastery through the Serbian Orthodox Church NGO "MAJCA JUGOVICA”: it permits the transportation of people, animals and goods to and from the farm.

 

The rehabilitation of the road will significantly improve transport needs of the community and will facilitate the way to reach the area.

 

The additional importance of this rehabilitation project is connected with the main activity lead by the SOC NGO in favour the poorest people in Novo BRDO. This NGO provides around 2000 daily free hot meals and bread to the poorest citizens of NOVO BRDO.
