MAJOR GENERAL SALVATORE FARINA (COM KFOR) MET WITH THE GERMAN FEDERAL MINISTER OF DEFENSE H.E.MRS.DR.URSULA VON DER LEYEN

On May 15th 2014Major General Salvatore FARINA (COM KFOR) met with the German Federal Minister of Defense in Camp Film City in Pristina.

COM KFOR and the German Minister discussed the general security situation , the latest developments in Kosovo and in the Balkan area and the support to Belgrade-Pristina dialogue.

In addition General FARINA informed the minister about the involvement of KFOR as third responder to the incoming general elections.

H.E. Mrs.Ursula VON DER LEYEN confirmed the full support of her country for the implementation of the agreement for the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia and the support to KFOR efforts in order to ensure the accomplishment of the NATO mission in Kosovo.

Major General Salvatore FARINA thanked the Minister for the outstanding contribution of the German contingent to the KFOR mission and underlined their great professionalism.

Germany is one the most important NATO Contributing Nation, with 712 soldiers deployed in Kosovo.

Maj. Gen. FARINA thanked the Minister for the visit.
