KOSOVO FORCES HEADQUARTERS SUPPORT GROUP COMMANDER TRANSFER OF AUTHORITY


On July 28th 2014, COMKFOR, Major General Salvatore FARINA, presided over the farewell ceremony in Camp Film City, Pristina, to mark the transfer of responsibility for the Headquarters Support Group (HSG) Command from Irish Army Colonel William HARRINGTON to Irish Army Colonel Willie O’DWYER.

Colonel HARRINGTON had served as the HSG Commander for the past year; the HSG is a unit composed of soldiers of 15 different contributing nations, responsible for the support of KFOR, for all the real life of HQ. This includes areas such as vital services, security maintaining and improving infrastructures and the coordination of all emergency response procedures.

During the transfer of responsibility ceremony Major General FARINA, praised Colonel HARRINGTON’s ability to perform his duties in a complex and demanding environment. "I personally thank you for your outstanding professionalism, your exceptional leadership and your ability to shape a cohesive military staff and civilian personnel, during your tenure as Commander, your supervision and management ensured the highest real life support standards, I want to sincerely thank you for your enthusiastic involvement and genuine commitment in supporting KFOR’s mandate” said COM KFOR.

Colonel HARRINGTON thanked soldiers and civilians working on the KFOR HSG. "It was a great honor for me being the HSG Commander”. In COM KFOR’s remarks to Colonel O’DWYER, he congratulated him as the new HSG Commander and said "I am confident the tradition of excellence for which the HSG has become known in supporting KFOR HQ”.

Concluding his speech General FARINA thanked all the multinational staff of HSG praised the efforts and the contribution given to the NATO mission in KOSOVO.
