KFOR SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM RESCUED TWO PEOPLE IN ALBANIA


Pristina, 20 September 2014. KFOR Commander, Major General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo visited today the Multinational Battle Group East (MNBG E), in Camp Bondsteel, located near Ferizaj in the eastern part of Kosovo.
 
General FIGLIUOLO, welcomed by the MNBG-E Commander, United States Colonel Hensley, expressed his appreciation for the professionalism of the troops, highlighting the efforts made to ensure a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement in all over Kosovo.

"This is an outstanding contribution to KFOR mission and exceptional example of ability to work in a multinational force and joint environment”, said General FIGLIUOLO.

During the visit General Figliuolo met the two people involved in a mountain accident and rescued by a KFOR US medevac team.
In the early morning a US helicopter crew with night vision capability, on request of EULEX, conducted a search and rescue operation in Albania to save an EULEX member and a civilian missing.

General Figliuolo praised the US team for the timely intervention and stressed how the effective operational coordination between EULEX and KFOR has been.
General Figliuolo also expressed his satisfaction for the prompt authorization released by Albanian Authorities in order to allow the helicopters to overfly the Albanian territory.

The two people were treated in the MNBG-E field hospital in Camp Bondsteel where they are still hospitalized.

The MNBG-E consisting mostly of US soldier (almost 600), includes also Armenian, German, Hungarian, Turkish, Polish soldiers serving together and contributing to the success of KFOR mission.
