KFOR: MOLDOVAN CONTINGENT “WELCOME ON BOARD” IN KOSOVO
Pristina, 10 March 2014. In accordance with the Technical Arrangement between the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Moldova and the Ministry of the Defence of the Italian Republic, a Moldovan Army contingent arrived on Saturday o8 March and will be deployed in Kosovo as a part of the Multinational Peacekeeping Force, KFOR.
Today, in Camp "VILLAGGIO ITALIA”, COM KFOR, Major General Salvatore FARINA greeted the Moldovan contingent and marked the start of its contribution within KFOR. COM KFOR also expressed appreciation for the international active role that the Moldovan Republic has demonstrated by deploying a contingent within KFOR.
The Moldovan Army contingent is made up of 33 infantry, 7 Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) personnel and one KFOR HQ Staff Officer.
The infantry platoon and the EOD team will be stationed at the Multinational Battle Group West (MNBG – G) in Camp "VILLAGGIO ITALIA”, in Belo POLJE. They will carry out security, guard and patrol missions.
All the service members were trained and tested in compliance with the NATO standards.
