KFOR COMMANDER MET WITH THE PORTUGUESE MINISTER OF DEFENCE


04th December 2014. KFOR Commander, Major General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, had a meeting yesterday with the Portuguese Minister of Defence, Mr. José Pedro Aguiar-Branco at Camp "Film City” NATO KFOR Headquarters in Pristina/Prishtinë.
 
KFOR Commander and the Portuguese Minister of Defence discussed the overall security situation in Kosovo and the importance of KFOR’s role for the stability of the area, maintaining a safe and secure environment and ensuring freedom of movement throughout Kosovo according to the United Nations resolution 1244.

General Figliuolo thanked Mr. Aguiar-Branco and the Portuguese Chief of Defence Artur Neves Pina Monteiro, for the optimal cooperation of the Portuguese service members and for their professionalism and outstanding contribution to the mission in Kosovo.

During his visit, the Portuguese Minister of Defence went to the KFOR Tactical Manoeuvre (KTM) base in Pristina/Prishtinë, where he visited the Portuguese contingent and had a meeting with KTM commander, Lieutenant Colonel Jose’ Tavares Das Neves, who leads this KFOR Unit.

The Portuguese commitment in KFOR begun in 1999 and it currently provides about 200 soldiers that are part of the KFOR Headquarters Staff and the KTM Battalion in Camp Slim Lines.
