JOINT REGIONAL DETACHMENT NORTH CHANGE OF COMMAND
1st December 2014 - Today, KFOR Commander, Major General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, presided over the change of command ceremony in "Camp Marechal de Lattre de Tassigny”, in Vucitrin/Vushtrria, to mark the handover of command within Joint Regional Detachment North (JRD-N).
Swiss Colonel Christian Steiner handed over command to Swiss Colonel Hans Joerg Fischer after 5 months in command. The event was attended by H.E. Krystyna Marty Lang, the Swiss Ambassador to Kosovo.
Since July 2014, the intense activity conducted by JRD-N personnel of key Leader Engagement with political, social and religious authorities and the representatives of several ethnic groups, contributed significantly to the improved relationships between all the communities of the area.
As General Figiuolo said to the soldiers of JRD North: "You have the reputation throughout KFOR of providing exceptional situational awareness and daily monitoring activities. You have kept your finger on the pulse of your region. I truly appreciate your service, professionalism and the outstanding manner in which you conduct yourselves every day”.
During the ceremony KFOR Commander thanked Colonel Christian Steiner for his high professionalism, and he welcomed the new Commander and wished him all the best for future JRD North commitments.
The JRD-North is a multinational unit led by Switzerland and is made up of military personnel from Greece, Slovenia and Switzerland. JRD-N operates in six municipalities in Kosovo, with its Liaison and Monitoring Teams. Their main task is liaison with local institutions, international organizations and the local population.
