On 8th August 2014, COMKFOR, Major General Salvatore FARINA, presided over the ceremony in Camp Film City in Pristina, to mark the inauguration of a memorial monument in memory of Turkish Senior Master Sergeant HUSEYN KUTLU.
The ceremony was attended also by the Turkish Ambassador in Kosovo H.E. Songul OZAN, and by the wife, the children and the parents of the Senior Master Sergeant HUSEYN KUTLU, arrived from Turkey for the inauguration.
The Turkish soldier died on 22nd September 1999 in the accomplishment of his duty due to an explosion occurred when he was trying to disable a bomb.
During his speech, Major General FARINA underlined the importance of remembering all the fallen soldiers and that the best way to honor them is a daily commitment in order to accomplish all the tasks of NATO mission in Kosovo, speaking about Senior Master Sergeant KUTLU, COM KFOR said that he paid the extreme tribute with his life doing his duty for the future of Kosovo, and addressed to the family his personal vicinity, condolence and admiration.
COMKFOR pointed out that Turkey was present in the Balkan area since the very beginning of the mission, being one of the seven country participant in NATO air operation in 1999.
In addition to this, General FARINA expressed his personal gratitude to all Turkish soldiers for their outstanding professionalism and commitment, he considers the Turkish Contingent as a fundamental pillar of KFOR mission.
A wreath of flowers was laid in front of the monument to pay a tribute of memory to Senior Master Sergeant KUTLU and to honor the presence of his family.
