HIGH LEVEL TALKS IN KFOR HQ, COM KFOR MEETS THE CHIEF OF THE GENERAL STAFF OF THE SERBIAN ARMED FORCES

The Kosovo Force Commander, (COMKFOR) Major-General Salvatore FARINA received General Ljubisa DIKOVIC, Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, in KFOR HQ.

This meeting, the second between the two Generals, is part of the agenda of the high level talks conducted in line with the Military Technical Agreement (MTA), known as the KUMANOVO TREATY. It was fourth high level meeting undertaken by COM KFOR having visited Belgrade, Tirana, Skopje, and Podgorica in the last five months.

COM KFOR meets on a regular basis with the CHOD's of the various countries bordering of KFOR Area of Responsibility, namely Albania, FYROM, Montenegro and Serbia.

Major-General Salvatore FARINA and General DIKOVIC spoke about the situation in the Balkans with specific reference to Northern Kosovo and about the importance of cooperation in order to enhance the security situation in the region. COM KFOR underlined the improvement on the security situation after the 15th April Belgrade-Pristina agreement and confirmed the continuous effort of the NATO mission to contribute to SASE and FOM creating the necessary condition to help and support progress.

In this context, COMKFOR stressed the importance of maintaining and developing the continuous coordination between KFOR and Serbian Armed Forces, the Patrolling activity along the Administrative Boundary Line and the safety zone.

After the meeting COMKFOR and General Ljubisa DIKOVIC, went to DECANI Monastery, the last that is still guarded by KFOR Troops.

Following the visit both COMKFOR and the Serbian CHOD highlighted the fruitful outcomes of the meeting.
