HIGH LEVEL TALKS, COM KFOR MEETS THE CHIEF OF THE GENERAL STAFF OF THE SERBIAN ARMED FORCES


On 10th April, the Kosovo Force Commander, (COM KFOR) Major-General Salvatore FARINA, attended a day of high-level talks in the Air Forces Base of NIŠ in Southern SERBIA.
COM KFOR met with the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces (CHOD) General Ljubisa DIKOVIC, who hosted the meeting.

This meeting is part of the agenda of the high level talks conducted in line with the Military Technical Agreement (MTA), known as the KUMANOVO TREATY. It is the third time that Major-General FARINA meets with General DIKOVIC.

COM KFOR meets on a regular basis with the CHOD’s of the four countries bordering the KFOR Area of Responsibility, namely Albania, FYROM, Montenegro and Serbia.

Major-General Salvatore FARINA over the last six months visited Belgrade, Tirana, Skopje, and Podgorica and he hosted in KFOR HQ in Camp Film City in PRISTINA the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces in January and the Chief of the General Staff of the Albanian Armed Forces in March.

Major-General FARINA and General DIKOVIC spoke about the security situation in Kosovo with specific reference to the North, they also addressed the security outside the Administrative Boundary Line (ABL) and last but not list they spoke about the importance of mutual cooperation in order to enhance the security situation in the wide Balkan region.

COM KFOR noted the improvement in the security situation in Kosovo following after the April 19th agreement and he underlined that these improvements have been possible thanks to the continuous endeavor and dialogue between BELGRADE and PRISTINA, and thanks to the strong relationship with the different international stakeholders, security providers, international and local institutions.

COM KFOR confirmed the constant and impartial effort of the NATO mission to contribute to a Safe and Secure Environment and Freedom of Movement creating the necessary conditions to help and support progress, democracy and modernization for all the people of Kosovo.
