GERMAN PARLIAMENTARY STATE SECRETARY IN THE MINISTRY OF DEFENCE VISITS KFOR

28th December 2014. Yesterday, KFOR Commander, Major General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, welcomed the German Parliamentary State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, Dr. Ralf Brauksiepe to an official meeting in Camp "Film City”, NATO KFOR Headquarters in Pristina/Prishtinë.

General Figliuolo and Dr. Brauksiepe agreed on the importance of the role of KFOR in maintaining a safe and secure environment and the freedom of movement throughout Kosovo, thus allowing the development of better social and economic conditions.

They also discussed the German contribution to KFOR’s tasks and regional co-operation in the Balkans. In this respect, Dr. Brauksiepe reaffirmed that Germany will continue to strongly support the mission.

The meeting was an opportunity for General Figliuolo to remark to Dr. Brauksiepe on the effectiveness of the German contribution, emphasizing, other than the German manoeuvre units, the daily job performed at the Prizren military field hospital, managed by a German medical unit.

During his visit in Kosovo, Dr. Brauksiepe had also the opportunity to visit the KFOR German troops deployed in Camp Prizren.

German commitment in KFOR began in June 1999 and currently it provides one of the largest contingents in KFOR, with about 700 deployed soldiers. The bulk of German service members are mainly based in Camp Prizren, with others in KFOR Multinational Battle Group East and KFOR HQ Staff.
