COMKFOR HIGH LEVEL TALKS IN SERBIA


11st December 2014 – Today KFOR Commander, Major General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, attended a day of high level talks with the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces (SAF), General Ljubisa Dikovic, in Niš in southern Serbia.

The meeting was conducted amid an atmosphere of great collaboration and understanding. Major General Figliuolo discussed the security situation in Kosovo with General Dikovic, referring especially to military undertakings where cooperation between KFOR and SAF is pivotal.

 KFOR Commander outlined the improvement in the security situation in Kosovo and he underlined that these achievements have been reached thanks also to the continuous endeavour and cooperation between KFOR and the SAF. He also confirmed the constant and impartial efforts of the NATO mission in order to maintain a Safe and Secure Environment and Freedom of Movement, thus creating the necessary conditions to help and support progress, democracy and modernization in Kosovo.  

 This meeting in Niš, followed those in Tirana and Skopje which were held over the last few months. It was part of the agenda of the High Level Talks conducted in line with the Military Technical Agreement (MTA), known as the Kumanovo Treaty. In this regard, KFOR Commander periodically meets the Chief of Defence of the countries bordering the KFOR Area of Responsibility.
