COM KFOR MET WITH THE US AMBASSADOR
September 10, 2014. KFOR Commander, Major General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, met this morning with the US Ambassador to Kosovo, Her Excellency Tracey Jacobson, at the US embassy in Pristina.
This is the first official visit since General Figliuolo assumed KFOR command on the 3rd September, 2014 and it is part of key leaders meetings conducted regularly by COM KFOR with the Representatives of the International Community including the political, military and civilian authorities in Kosovo and in the Balkans area in order to harmonize the comprehensive approach for the normalization, through the dialogue and cooperation, of relations between Pristina and Belgrade.
During the meeting General Figliuolo underlined the importance of the support of the US contingent that consists of about 700 soldiers, deployed mostly in the Multinational Battle Group East, based in Camp Bondsteel, and in the KFOR HQ Staff.
COM KFOR expressed his appreciation for the contribution of the USA, highlighting the professionalism and commitment of its troops on the ground since 1999 as part of the international stabilization force following the end of the war.
Ambassador Jacobson stressed that the USA is continuing to support KFOR mission as one of the most important contributors.
COM KFOR and US Ambassador agreed on the importance of the contribution of KFOR efforts in contributing, as the third responder, to support KP, EULEX and all local and international organizations and in maintaining a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement throughout Kosovo.
