COM KFOR MET WITH THE AMBASSADOR OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF GERMANY TO KOSOVO
September 15, 2014. KFOR Commander, Major General Francesco Paolo FIGLIUOLO, met this morning with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Kosovo, HE Ms Angelika VIETS, at the Camp " Film City” NATO KFOR HQ in Pristina.
During the meeting, General FIGLIUOLO and Ambassador VIETS spoke about the overall situation of the communities in Kosovo with emphasis on the North and the latest political developments.
General FIGLIUOLO underlined the importance of the support of the German contingent consisting of about 650 service members.
Besides the excellent performance of the German manoeuvre Coy, COM KFOR also emphasized the outstanding job done in the PRIZREN military field hospital, managed by German specialized unit. The Facility, a level 3 hospital, is sufficient total treatment of patients to include diagnosis, holding and treatment of patients.
General FIGLIUOLO expressed his appreciation for the contribution of German contingent, highlighting the professionalism and the efforts in facilitating the dialogue between the religious representatives and the civilian and local authorities in the area of responsibility.
Ambassador VIETS confirmed that Germany will continue to support KFOR mission as one of the most important contributors.
COM KFOR and the German Ambassador agreed on the value of the role of KFOR in contributing, as the third responder, to support Kosovo Police, EULEX and all local and international organizations and in maintaining a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement throughout Kosovo under the United Nations Security Council resolutions 1244.
These periodic meetings conducted by COM KFOR with the Representatives of the International Community including the political, military and civilian authorities in Kosovo and in the Balkans area represent a key success factor in order to harmonize the comprehensive approach for the normalization, through the dialogue and cooperation, of relations between Pristina and Belgrade.
