17th December 2014. Yesterday, KFOR Commander, Major General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, met with the Ambassador of Switzerland to Kosovo, H.E. Krystyna Marty Lang, at Camp "Film City” NATO KFOR Headquarters in Pristina/Prishtinë.

General Figliuolo and H.E. Lang discussed many topics relating to the overall security situation and recent developments in the area. Furthermore, the COMKFOR thanked the Ambassador for the high calibre contribution of the Swiss contingency to KFOR, in terms of valuable operational capabilities and highly specialized and professional personnel.

In this respect, General Figliuolo outlined the important role played by the Swiss helicopter assets and engineers as well as the Joint Regional Detachment North (JRD-N) operating in the Northern part of Kosovo, with non-kinetic assets, contributing to KFOR’s situational awareness.

H.E. Lang confirmed the support of Switzerland to KFOR. Additionally, she outlined that the Swiss government is proactive in Kosovo in the area of health-care, infrastructure and regarding the integration of minorities. In particular, the Ambassador underlined that Switzerland takes in due consideration the social issues of Kosovar immigrants.

Finally, they agreed on the importance of a comprehensive approach which involved the representatives of the International Community in order to achieve normalization of society, through dialogue and cooperation in the Balkans area.
