COM KFOR MET THE ITALIAN AMBASSADOR TO PRISTINA


The Commander of the Kosovo Force (KFOR), Major General Francesco Paolo FIGLIUOLO, met with the Italian Ambassador to Pristina, HE Andreas FERRARESE, at the multinational KFOR Headquarters in Pristina.

During the meeting, General FIGLIUOLO and Ambassador FERRARESE discussed the current situation in Kosovo and they agreed on the fundamental role played by KFOR in Kosovo to ensure a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement, necessary conditions for the development of the region.

Ambassador FERRARESE underlined the significant contribution to NATO by the Italian Armed Forces in Kosovo since 1999 for the stabilization of the area.

"KFOR ensures a safe environment, important condition to promote the economic, social and political development of Kosovo and the Balkans area”, said Ambassador FERARRESE, adding that "Italian troops among KFOR create the conditions of stability and security to encourage Italian investors to increase their presence in Kosovo with obvious benefits for this area”.

Italy is one of the main contributors of the NATO mission in Kosovo, with about 550 soldiers and for the second consecutive year it holds the leadership of the KFOR mission with General FIGLIUOLO in command of more than 5,000 soldiers from 31 nations.
