CHANGE OF COMMAND CEREMONY IN CAMP PRIZREN, TO MARK THE MERGING OF TWO UNITS WITHIN KFOR


On the 13th of January 2014 COM KFOR, Major-General Salvatore FARINA, presided over a change of command ceremony in Camp Prizren, to mark the merging of two Units within KFOR.

Joint Regional Detachment East (JRD-E), led by a United State Commander, and Joint Regional Detachment South (JRD-S), led by a Turkish Commander, and merged into one Unit under the Command of the Turkish Commander Col. Zorlu TOPALOGLU.

Many distinguished visitors were present at the ceremony.

U.S commander Maj Jonathan HARTSOCK handed over to Col. Zorlu TOPALOGLU after nine months in command. The parade consisted of JRD troops from Switzerland, Poland, Turkey, Austria and the United States comprising around 100 Military personnel.

COM KFOR awarded the U.S commander Maj Jonathan with the KFOR NATO Peace Mission Medal and commented on his professionalism. He welcomed the new JRD Commander and wished him all the best.
At the end of his speech Maj. Gen. FARINA pointed out: "Fellow soldiers of the merging JRDs, you have provided exceptional situational awareness and daily monitoring activities. I want to express my appreciation for the service, professionalism and the outstanding manner in which you, the soldiers of the JRDs have performed your duties. I ask now that you all turn your dedication to Colonel TOPALOGLU as he commands the newly merged JRD-S and that you with the KFOR motto Of doing "More Together” ".
