MINISTER OF DEFENCE OF PORTUGAL VISITS KFOR


December 20, 2013. PRISTINA, Kosovo. The Portuguese Minister of Defence, His Excellency JOSÉ PEDRO AGUIAR BRANCO, accompanied by a the Chief of Portuguese Armed Forces General Luis ARAÚJO, visited KFOR Head Quarters (KFOR HQ) and met KFOR Commander, Major-General Salvatore FARINA (COM KFOR), in Camp Film City in Pristina.

After having welcomed them in front of KFOR HQ, COM KFOR had an office call with his two guests, during which they mainly discussed the current security situation, the operations in support of elections and the future of KFOR and the posture of its forces, in view of the progress of the dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade.

Minister BRANCO stressed the fact that his country will continue to support the mission of KFOR in Kosovo.

COM KFOR expressed his appreciation for the important contribution of Portugal, outlining the high professionalism and commitment of its troops.

The Portuguese contingent is in fact on the lead of the KFOR Tactical Reserve Maneuver Battalion, which is one of the most important kinetic units in KFOR.

In completion of his visit, Minister BRANCO visited the Portuguese contingent in camp Slim Line, Pristina and shared Christmas and seasonal greetings with the Portuguese soldiers.
