KFOR COMMANDER MEETS OSCE HIGH COMMISSIONER FOR NATIONAL MINORITIES


PRISTINA, Kosovo. On the 24th of October 2013, in Film City, the Kosovo Force Commander, Major General Salvatore FARINA, met her Excellency Ambassador Astrid THORS, the OSCE High Commissioner for National Minorities.

The OSCE is the world's largest regional security organization with 57 member states from Europe, Central Asia and North America. The OSCE mission in Kosovo was established on the 1st of July 1999 and is responsible for institution and democracy building, the promotion of human rights and the rule of law in Kosovo.

The purpose of the meeting was to provide updates on the general situation in Kosovo, with specific reference to the situation of the minorities and their impact on the upcoming electoral process.

Major General FARINA outlined that KFOR will as the third responder during the election period contributes to the maintenance of a Safe and Secure Environment and Freedom of Movement within Kosovo.
