KFOR COMMANDER MEETS EULEX HEAD AND DEPUTY

PRISTINA, Kosovo - On the 29th of October 2013, in Film City, the Kosovo Force Commander, Major General Salvatore FARINA, held a meeting with the Head of the EULEX mission (HoM), Mr. Bernd Borchardt and with the Deputy Head of EULEX Ms Joelle Vachter.

In the periodical meeting, Major General Salvatore FARINA and Mr. Borchardt discussed current developments in Kosovo and cooperation between the KFOR and EULEX, with specific reference to the upcoming Municipal elections.

The Head of EULEX mission underlined the positive and close cooperation with KFOR, in guaranteeing Freedom of Movement and a Safe and Secure Environment.

The purpose of the meeting was to provide updates on the security situation all over Kosovo and in particular in the north of Kosovo, in viewing of the upcoming electoral process.

COMKFOR highlighted that KFOR is continuing to operate carefully, firmly and impartially, in accordance with its operational mandate, in order to support as the third security responder, any activities conducted by EULEX to maintain Safe and Secure Environment and Freedom of Movement within Kosovo during the election period, with main effort to the North.

Major General Salvatore FARINA and Mr. Bernd Borchardt stressed that both KFOR and EULEX will continue to cooperate and support UN, EU, OSCE and other international actors and will act in assisting the activities of KP and all international and local organizations, with a view to guaranteeing the population a stable environment, freedom of movement and security, supporting progress towards a better future for all people of Kosovo.
