Graduated from Military High School in 1995 and Army Military Academy in 1999 as an Artillery Officer, BG IRICAN brings extensive command experience, having successfully commanded at all levels from Platoon to Regiment. His leadership roles encompassed both Single Service and Joint Headquarters, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of diverse operational environments. Notably, he has commanded national, NATO, and multinational staff and units, demonstrating his ability to effectively coordinate and collaborate with various stakeholders.
His track record of shouldering responsibility for the effective use of available resources, organizing military forces, and ensuring the accomplishment of assigned missions highlights his strong command capabilities and commitment to the health, welfare, morale, and discipline of personnel under his leadership.
His security expertise is evident through academic and professional achievements. Having studied at Staff College, he possesses knowledge in developing tactical and operational level military planning. His comprehensive understanding of the security environment, particularly in the Balkans and Kosovo, has been honed through various roles and experiences. Notably as MAJ, he served as Operation Plan Officer and MA to DCOSOPS in ISAF, LOT leader in BiH, and as COL he was DCOS OPS in KFOR, gaining invaluable insight into operations and dynamics of ISAF/EUFOR/KFOR missions. Additionally at SHAPE as C2 Section Head in J3, he had the chance and opportunity to understand strategical level understanding of NATO operations, planning, and future projects' operational requirements.
On the national side, he served as forward observation officer, battery officer, battery commander, and battalion commander in various units. Moreover, at TLF HQ, he has worked as NATO exercise plan officer for four years, then as plan officer of 10 Year Framework of Program for Procurement.
His extensive experience in coordination and liaison is a testament to effectively collaborate with various organizations and stakeholders. One of his previous roles as DCOS OPS in KFOR provided him with first-hand experience in international coordination and peacekeeping operations. As the NATO exercise plan officer for four years, he successfully led the planning and execution efforts of NATO exercises, showcasing his skills in coordinating multinational units and fostering cooperation among diverse units.
Additionally, his proficiency in coordination and liaison extends to engaging with international organisations and actors, as well as enhancing interoperability with partner nations. These experiences have sharpened his ability to navigate complex environments and establish effective communication channels, essential qualities for the DCOM KFOR role.
