NATO supports municipality of flood devastated Tetovo region
TETOVO - Chief NLOSk visited
the Tetovo region which was hit by devastating floods recently, August 11, 2015.
During his visit to Tetovo municipality, Capt (N) Rumen Radev was accompanied by Mr. Bekim
Maksuti, Head of the International Cooperation Department of MOD and a native from
this region. Capt (N) Radev initially held a meeting with Mayor of Tetovo
municipality Ms. Teuta Arifi.
At the meeting he first expressed his condolences
to Mayor Arifi for the victims and their families. In the devastating floods six people died. Captain (N) Radev offered
NATO assistance for the region and introduced Ms. Arifi with the NATO procedures on
possible engagement of NATO during natural disasters. Ms. Arifi expressed her
gratitude for the offered help by NATO and informed NLO Skopje on the measures
they have undertaken in the municipality to help the areas which were heavily damaged
by the floods.
Arifi also stated that the cooperation with NATO will remain
good and open in the future. After the meeting with Ms. Arifi, Chief NLO Skopje
visited two villages that were utterly hit by the floods, Golema Recica and Shipkovica.
At these locations, he got briefed about the serious damages caused by the natural disaster.
