On 19 Feb 2014, the UK Ambassador to the HN, Mr. Christopher Yvon, accompanied by the UK Defence Attaché, Lieutenant Colonel Richard Parry, visited the premises of NLO Skopje, and met with the Chief, Colonel Aleksandar Aleksandrov, and members of the Office.
During the meeting, Mr. Yvon was familiarized with the structure and terms of reference, and some of the main activities and contributions, of the NATO Advisory Team. In the course of the discussion, Colonel Aleksandrov underlined the Defence and Security Sector Reforms contribution, as well as his intention of sincere discussion with UK Ambassador regarding the HN situation.
Mr. Yvon expressed particular interest to hear the Office’s assessment of the public perception of its role in the country, and also the current situation of national Cyber Defence efforts. Mr. Parry focused on the Office’s perception of morale in the armed forces, and also about the HN bilateral engagements and post-ISAF participation. It was agreed that the HN has a great interest in participating in missions abroad, even in UN-led operations. The meeting closed with an assurance of more frequent and open cooperation between the UK Embassy and NLOSk in the future.
