Civil Emergency Planning Outreach (CEPOS) Advisor Support Team visits NATO Liaison Office Skopje
On 31 March 2014, members of the Civil Emergency Planning Outreach from NATO HQ in Brussels leading by Mr. Stefano Santamato, Senior Staff Officer, visited the premises of NLO Skopje, and met with the Chief, Colonel Aleksandar Aleksandrov, and members of the Office. The meeting was also attended by other experts.
During the meeting, the Team was familiarized with the structure and terms of reference, and some of the main activities and contributions of the NATO Advisory Team. In the course of the discussion, Colonel Aleksandrov underlined the importance of professionalization in the ARM, which represents the base of modernization and a pillar of the process to join NATO. He also emphasized the importance of prioritization and rationalization plans in the development of the Long Term Defence Development Plan.
Mr. Santamato expressed interest to hear about last PARP meeting hold in February, and in particular PGs connected with Regional Medical Training Center (RMTC). He made special note related of RMTC future develops and cooperation with other NATO countries. The meeting closed with an assurance of further cooperation and closer contacts with the CEPOS on medical training and emergency planning issues.
The visit follows the request by HN State Secretary, Mr. Saso Stefanoski, in order to receive support and recommendations to further develop the RMTC capabilities in the area of:
-CBRN medical support;
-Implementation of medical standards;
-Certification of medical instructors.
