Ambassador Hansjoerg Eiff
Born in Frankfurt/Main 1933. He studied law in Germany, France and Italy. Later on in 1961, he entered the German Foreign Service and served in German Embassies in Ivory Coast, Israel, USA and Yugoslavia. Eiff also worked in Georgia (Gruzija) for the OSCE in handling of inter-ethnic conflict there.
He has been the German permanent Representative with the OSCE in Vienna and the last German Ambassador in the former Yugoslavia, from 1988 till 1992. He came to the former Yugoslav republic of Macedonia* for the first time in 1975 and often returned since then. He was the Senior Civilian Representative of NATO during the Kosovo crisis in 1999, and served NATO again in the same capacity. Mr. Eiff is married and has three grown up children. He lives in Bonn/Germany and in Southern France. He speaks several languages, including Serbo – Croatian and Macedonian language as well.
