Lieutenant General Gomez Carretero

Lieutenant General Francisco Jose' Gomez Carretero was born on 16 March 1941, in Guadalajara, Spain. He graduated at the Spanish Air Force Academy in 1963. He attended, among other educational centers: the Staff and Command College in Madrid in 1983, the USAF Air War College and the Troy State University at Montgomery (AL), for a Master of Business Administration, in 1986, and the US-DSMC at Ft. Belvoir (VA) for the Executive Management Course in 1989. 
General Carretero has held a variety of Command positions such as:
11th Squadron Leader (Valencia)
12th Wing Commander (Torrejon)
Chief for Plans and Operations in the SAF Air Combat Command (Torrejon)
Defense Attaché in Washington, D.C.
Deputy Chief of the Air Force Staff, for CIS.
Deputy Chief of Staff, RHQ AFSOUTH.
General Carretero has received, among others, the following awards and decorations:
The Great Air Meritorious Cross
The Great St. Hermenegildo Order Cross
The US Legion of Merit.
On 15 March 2000 he was promoted to Lieutenant General. 
General Carretero has more than 6000 hour of flight in a variety of aircraft's including F-S Mirage Ill and EF-18 A/B. He was member of the Spanish Solo Acrobatic Team taking part in several World and European Competitions. 
He is married to Mrs. Carmen DAVILA, they have a son Francisco (30) and Lucia (25). 
He practices golf, motorcycling, and loves music.
