NATO Liaison Office Skopje meets with the leader of opposition political party VMRO DPMNE
SKOPJE, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia* -- The Chief of the NATO Liaison Office, Slovenian Navy Captain Gorazd Bartol and his team met with the VMRO DPMNE leader, a political party in opposition, Hristijan Mickoski.
They discussed the strategic priorities of the country and a faster integration in NATO, the current economic and political situation of the country and other topics of pivotal importance for the region.
Mickoski also reaffirmed the stances of VMRO-DPMNE that its strategic goal is full-fledged memberships in EU and NATO and also reiterated that he remains on his position that membership in NATO is more than needed and the country can provide great contribution to NATO as guarantor of the regional security. He also said that VMRO DPMNE will support every process intended to strengthen the democracy and in the citizen’s interest and the country.
Bartol conveyed that NATO remains committed to NATO open door policy and will support the country on its path to joining the Alliance.
*Turkey recognizes the Republic of Macedonia with its constitutional name.
