NATO Liaison Office Skopje meets with Strategic Defence Review main coordination group leaders
SKOPJE, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia* - NATO Liaison Office Skopje NAT team with its advisors met with the leaders of the coordination group from the Ministry of Defence of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia* currently working on the final stage of the country’s Strategic Defence Review (SDR), June 7, 2018. As the newly arrived advisors were introduced to the leaders of the coordination group they were also presented with the specifics of the document and the progress.
During the conversation colonel Velkov, the leader of the SDR development coordination group reiterated that the job could not have been done without the commitment by the top leadership to the defence reforms. The SDR is in a phase of being presented to the government for their approval which will only confirm the government’s assurance to support the further reforms in defence and security sector and then to the parliament for their information. He also took the time to inform on the ongoing work of the Defence Strategy which is the responsibility of the President of the country.
NATO Liaison Office Skopje remains committed to assisting the Host Nation in its endeavors to join NATO and become full-fledged member.
