SKOPJE, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia* - Representatives from the NATO Liaison Office Skopje, led by the chief of the NLO, Slovenian Navy Captain Gorazd Bartol, met with the newly elected leader of the VMRO DPMNE party, Hristijan Mickoski, in the party’s headquarters, Skopje, former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia , Jan. 9, 2018.
Bartol took the opportunity to congratulate Mickoski on his appointment as the new leader of the party.
During the meeting, both sides discussed the priorities, its membership in NATO, and the current political developments in the country in an open and frank manner. VMRO DPMNE’s leader stressed that they strongly support the strategic commitment to become a full-fledged member of NATO. Mickoski also informed Bartol and his team that they stand ready to support the reform processes which are evaluated to be in the country’s interest.
The upcoming scheduled visit to the country by NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg later this month was mentioned as well as the bilateral meeting that will be held between Stoltenberg and Mickoski.
NATO Liaison Office stands ready to assist the country’s efforts in joining NATO.
