On 28 Feb 2017, a NATO Liaison Skopje (NLO Sk) delegation visited the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) in Veles, upon an invitation of the Host Nation (HN) General Staff (GS). The delegation consisted of Ltc Antonio BARONE (Interoperability Advisor), Maj Ramadan KARAKUSHI (Force Structure & Training Advisor) and Ms. Marijana MUKAETOVA (Translator/Interpreter) from the NATO Advisory Team (NAT).
The visit was conducted in a very social and warm atmosphere. Commander Col Ljubencho PETROVSKI briefed about the mission and organization of the TRADOC. NATO advisors had the opportunity to witness the arrival of almost 60 new volunteers and to be familiarized with the recruitment process. Afterwards, the Commander of the Individual Training Center (ITC) briefed about the training cycle and the collective capabilities available, including mission, tasks, organization, education, structure, personnel, equipment and activities.
The main topic of the bilateral cooperation was Non-Commissioned Officers (NCO) training, as the overall visit had been organized by the Command Sergeant Major of the Army Ljupcho STOIKOV. NAT advisors brought their experience and knowledge to the table, while getting acquainted with the NCO-training practice in the country.
All meetings were concluded with open and frank discussions, where the offer of NLO Sk to continue and enhance cooperation was met with very positive appreciation. Our Office now has the opportunity to return to TRADOC for a deeper look into the NCO training, and assist in building their training programs. In future, the NAT will probably strengthen our link to TRADOC by visiting and advising in the areas of expertise of the Simulation Center and the Lessons Learned Center.
