SKOPJE, the former Yogaslav Republic of Macedonia* -- On July 1, 2016, the newly appointed Chief of the NATO Liaison Office Skopje, Navy Captain Gorazd Bartol met the President of the country, Gjorge Ivanov.
Welcoming him, President Ivanov said he expected the close cooperation between the NATO Liaison Office Skopje and the Ministry of Defence and the General Staff to continue in the future. During the meeting, Ivanov expressed gratitude for the ongoing cooperation and preparedness for further cooperation and support from the NATO Liaison Office in the sphere of defence and security. Furthermore, Ivanov wished Navy Captain Bartol success in performing his responsible duty.
The Chief NLO Skopje thanked the President for the very warm welcome, expressing hope for his office support to ‘opening the doors to the institutions’, in order to ‘reinvigorate’ the relations, so that the NLO Skopje could assist the military and defence reforms.
At the end, Chief NLO Skopje invited the President to visit the premises of NLO Skopje to which the President responded favourably saying that he has already visited it once in 2013, and will ‘most certainly’ visit again.
