NATO Liaison Office Skopje (NLO Sk) continued its familiarization with the status of defense reforms in the host nation commands and units with visits to the Special Operations Regiment, the Ceremonial Guard Battalion and the Electronic Warfare Centre.
On 18 Oct, the NATO Advisory Team (NAT), headed by Chief NLO Sk, Navy Captain Gorazd Bartol, visited the Special Operations Regiment HQ. The NAT delivered a short briefing on the history, mission and tasks, organizational structure, available personnel, and most significant activities of the Office.
The Special Operations Regiment provided an introductory briefing on their mission, history, structure, selection, training, equipment, capabilities, deployment, and future development, as well as NATO compatibility. A discussion between NLO Skopje and the hosting unit developed in terms of their past and current activities as well as their future objectives.
On the same day, the NAT also visited the Honor Guard battalion where introductions and presentations were provided. The discussion entailed the structure, personnel and unit engagement manner. The NAT staff explained that it stands available to them for assistance wherever possible.
On 19 October 2016, the NAT visited the Electronic Surveillance Center (ESC). After the short introduction and briefings by both sides, a fruitful discussion developed on how to extend NAT assistance to this specialized unit. The ESC staff expressed their needs and challenges in terms of specialized education and training in their functional area. The meeting ended on the note of further cooperating in exchange of experience and deepening the collaboration aimed at achieving NATO standards.
In all three units that were visited, the NAT was warmly welcomed in a highly professional manner with the agreement for further and closer cooperation.
