The Chief of the NATO Liaison Office Skopje (NLO Sk) is the NATO Senior Representative (SR) in Skopje and acts as the NATO representative, liaising with the National Authorities of the Republic of North Macedonia in accordance with the guidance contained in the Terms of Reference and the mission of NLO Skopje.
Colonel Zoran Jankovič was born on 11 July 1962 in Maribor, the Republic of Slovenia. In 1985, he graduated from the Military Academy in Belgrade, and was commissioned as Second Lieutenant in the Yugoslav Army and assigned as platoon commander LOS (Line of Sight Radios) in Signal Regiment. From 1985 to 1991, he served in the Yugoslav Army as a signal officer.
From 1992 Colonel Jankovič has performed many duties at tactical level in the Slovenian Armed Forces. Between 2003 and 2004 he performed duties as Chief INFOSEC officer in the General Staff. In 2005, he was the 11th Signal and Electronic Warfare Battalion Commander. From 2006 to 2010 Colonel Zoran Jankovič was assigned as Chief CIS (J-6) in the General Staff. In addition to this, he was also assigned as the Principal National Representative to NATO C3 Board. From 2010 to 2011 he was Plans and Policy Advisor in NATO Military Liaison Office in Belgrade. From 2011 to 2015 he was Deputy Military Representative to NATO in Brussels. From 2015 to 2017 he was the Commandant of Staff Officers School in Maribor and from 2017 to 2018 he was the Chief of Military Policy Department in General Staff.
He assumed his current position as Chief of NATO Liaison office Skopje in October 2018.
Colonel Jankovič finished Staff Officer School in 1999 and General Staff Officer School in 2008. He co-authored Field Manual for squad commanders and reviewed the Field Manual of Light Motorised Battalion. He published expert articles on military communications and information systems. He was also part time inspector for Vienna Document and was trained for CFE (Conventional Forces in Europe) Treaty inspector. He was leading many CIS related acquisition projects in the Slovenian Armed Forces. He participated in many exercises among which are Crisis Response (CMX) and Able Staff Exercise series.
He was promoted to Colonel in June 2008. He is married with three children and lives in Maribor, Slovenia.
