NATO Headquarters Sarajevo is led by a Brigadier General from the United States and comprises military and civilian staff from NATO and Partner countries.

The Commander is NATO's Senior Military Representative in BIH and is responsible for fulfilling the strategic mission of 'defence and security sector reform' (DSSR).

The day-to-day engagement with host (BiH) institutions is led by the NATO Advisory Team (NAT). They provide advice to support the development and implementation of reforms that the authorities have committed to.
