UK Embassy is new NATO Contact Point Embassy in BiH


BG Christopher Petty, NHQSa Commander, presided over today's ceremony at which UK Embassy formally took over the role of NATO Contact Point Embassy in BiH, for the next two year period. In presence of the UK Ambassador to BiH Edward Ferguson, the Turkish Ambassador to BiH Cihad Erginay and BiH Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Ana Trišić Babić, General Petty expressed NATO HQ Sarajevo commitment to continue being a partner is NATO public diplomacy efforts in BiH.

While thanking Turkish Embassy for all their activities in the past four year period, General Petty welcomed this important future UK role, that will, as Ambassador Ferguson stated, include three things: strategic engagement with NATO HQ Brussels, coordination of international community efforts in BiH, and communication with BiH citizens across the country on why NATO is an important part of their future.

Today's ceremony was attended by BiH Ministry of Defence and BiH Armed Forces officials, many Ambassadors of NATO Member Countries, to include the newly arrived US Ambassador to BiH Maureen Cormack and numerous media representatives.
 
The event was followed by NATO Ambassadors Forum hosted by the UK Ambassador to BiH, which is a key platform in coordinating NATO Member Countries activities in BiH.
